Casa de Kate
This private room is available in my home located in Mayagüez for those seeking a space to immerse themselves with land, medicine, and culture.
This is specifically for those who are from the Puerto Rican or wider Caribbean diaspora and connect with one of the following:
You are trying to rematriate or to reconnect to your roots, and need a safe space to explore your possibilities/pathways of moving.
You are involved in cultural research, art, or medicine as it relates to Puerto Rico and/or the Caribbean and are seeking a space to work in.
For my own rematriation journey, having safe spaces to stay, connect, learn, and research were pivotal to my experience. My home is located on a finca in a more remote and mountainous area. There are many lush trails to hike, with a beautiful river located on the property. I am about a 15-20 minute drive to town. Renting a car is a requirement so that you are able to get around. Self-sufficiency and the ability to be okay on your own is important! I am involved in multiple projects and will not always be available, but I am supportive and want to hear all about your journey and vision for your time in Puerto Rico. You will have access to my shared kitchen and bathroom. I also have a friendly dog, in case of allergies.
This is not a mentorship with me, though if you are seeking mentorship, we can discuss this as well. I have a garden where I grow medicine and flowers, and am always open to extra help if you have experience with growing.
To book your stay, it must first be confirmed through a 1:1 consultation with Kate regarding further expectations, intent, and purposes. This stay has a 2-night minimum, Fee is $111/night for short-term stays, open to discussing rates for longer term stays.
